Barry Eugene "Butch" Wilmore: NASA Astronaut and Veteran of Two Spaceflights

Subheading: Wilmore Selected for Starliner Crew

Barry Eugene "Butch" Wilmore, a NASA astronaut and United States Navy test pilot born on December 29, 1962, has had two spaceflights, the first of which began in 2014. A veteran of two spaceflights, Wilmore has accumulated 178 days in space.

Delayed Launch for Wilmore and Williams

For Butch Wilmore and Suni Williams, the wait for their trip on the Boeing Starliner has been longer than they expected. Wilmore was selected as a NASA astronaut in 2000 and is currently training to be the commander of the Crew Flight Test. Williams and Wilmore were in their seats aboard Starliner on May 6, only about two hours from a historic launch, when engineers identified an issue that resulted in the launch being delayed.

Despite the delay, Wilmore remains excited about the upcoming mission. "We're all looking forward to getting to the space station and starting our work," he said. "We're ready to go."
