Georgia Fires Baseball Coach Scott Stricklin

Season Ends in Disappointment

Breaking News

The University of Georgia fired baseball coach Scott Stricklin on Friday, ending a decade-long tenure that failed to produce postseason success.

Stricklin, 51, was named Georgia's head coach in 2014. He led the Bulldogs to a 329-229 record during his 10 seasons, including four NCAA Tournament appearances. However, Georgia failed to advance past the regional round of the NCAA Tournament under Stricklin.

The Bulldogs finished the 2023 season with a 31-24 record, including a 13-17 mark in the Southeastern Conference. Georgia was eliminated from the SEC Tournament in the first round.

Stricklin's firing comes as a surprise to some, as he was considered to be one of the top coaches in the SEC. However, Georgia's lack of postseason success under Stricklin ultimately led to his dismissal.
